2009
Video loop of feet walking and following the cracks in Canadian shield bed rock is projected on a canvas screen, the screen is weighed down at the bottom with rusty railway spikes. I collected these spikes during a 250 km walk.
This piece explores the tracing of routes, one from the stories and memories conveyed my by Grandfather and the other inscribed in the solid rock on Beausoliel Island in Georgian Bay, a location where my ancestors once lived.
Canvas, grommets, deerskin, railroad spikes, video, and candlewick. A piece of canvas functions as a projection screen.
